Mayo Clinic Sports Medicine Center Injury Screening and Education at the Minnesota State Age Group Swimming Championship Meet

Med City Aquatics is looking forward to your participation in the State Age Group Championship Meet this week. As part of our comprehensive planning efforts to provide your team with the best experience possible we've partnered with the Mayo Clinic Sports Medicine Center to offer limited injury screening and education to your swimmers. There will be a certified athletic trainer from the Mayo Sports Medicine Center on site at the Rochester Recreation Center on Friday March 16th from 10 am to 1:30 pm and Saturday March 17th from 1 to 4pm. The athletic trainers will use the room right next to the coaches hospitality room. The Mayo Clinic Sports Medicine Center offers comprehensive sports services for athletes of all ages. The athletic trainers on site can evaluate your athletes on a drop in basis to provide guidance in regard to injury prevention or treatment options. In particular, because swimmers are at particular risk for shoulder injuries, they will be able to answer questions and provide guidance about stretching, exercise or other treatments to address or prevent shoulder problems affecting your athletes. Because the swimmers are minors we request that the swimmer's parent or guardian accompany them to the trainers room. Please pass this information along to your team so families can plan to drop by the training room if needed. Please also invite your coaching staff to drop by and visit with trainers regarding injury prevention exercises ideas that you may want to incorporate into your team's dry land training.
